Conceived as several installations, this installation-exhibition looks at the missionary activities conducted by the Jesuits of
Québec in both China and in Québec such as the creation of the Musée d’art chinois in 1930, as well as the phenomenon of
“Acheter un petit chinois” in the 1950s and 1960s. The installations include ornamental gates, a missionary kiosk, festive bunting,
jazzy music, a village of pagodas, objects from the original Jesuit collection borrowed from the Musée de la civilisation à Québec, and ‘chinoiseries’ lent by Maskoutains and the
Société du patriomoine religieux du diocèse de Saint-Hyacinthe.
